Teachers at the old Somerset school. Miss Ivan Fennell on the left, and my mother, Miss Opal Holmes on the right. The rock fence is still there, as is the pole in the left background. The pole was part of the playground equipment.
Did the playground pole have chains with bars at the end that kids grabbed onto and ran until centrifugal force made them "fly"? I'm asking because there was one on the Encinal Elementary School playground that I played on in the early 1960s. Dangerous thing that was! Elaine
I'm sure it was just as you said. You can still see where the chains were attached at the top. I'm sure it was great fun, but, I wonder how many kids got hurt. Barbara
