It might be, but it was in Sept. I have not been able to find any information about this on the Internet. The woman is supposed to be my Aunt Thelma Hearn who married Ellie Newman from Atascosa County in 1922. I don't know when the picture was taken.
I recently heard this tidbit about Poteet Day from a long-time resident of Atascosa County who was too young at the time to remember much about it. "It was in the middle 30s they would set a day for everybody to get together and have a big B-B-Q and rodeo." She also added that "the Newman men were big horsemen."
Dolly Eichman said there was a big rodeo every year, and even remembers riding in it as a young girl. This would have been about 1949. It was put on by the American Legion, and there is no longer a post in Poteet.

Could this be the early Strawberry Festival?

My mother is a life long resident of Atascosa County but she said she has never heard of the Poteet Day Celebration and Cowboy Roundup.
Guess it wasn't much, was never held again or the sign said something else that ends with "teet"!
